Club History

Kiambu Rugby Football Club referred to as Kiambu Rugby, has been in existent since 2011 and was initially known as Vermis Rugby Football Club. In 2013 it changed name to Kiambu Rugby to fit with its ambitions as well as its growing regional impact to the sport in the greater Mt. Kenya region.

Based at the Ruiru Sports Club Kiambu Rugby is an affiliate of the Kenya Rugby Union making it a  member of the rugby umbrella body and a key stakeholder in the formulation of rugby policy in the country. At present, it is a community club, which means it’s open to all members of the public who would wish to hone their skills in rugby or learn the sport. As a result, we have had hundreds of members from all regions of the country joining Kiambu Rugby some making their way into professional rugby.

Our membership is very diverse with members drawn from different demographics and enjoying a growing women membership.

The majority of our playing units are between the ages of 18 – 35 years.

Kiambu Rugby has 2 playing units:

  • Badgers; the clubs 15’s side
  • 7’s side

To grow Kiambu Rugby into a Premier Rugby outfit and an accelerator for local rugby talent while maintaining Brand value and appeal

To champion local rugby talent through exposure, instilling discipline and forging elite individuals into the sport providing a fun, sociable and profitable sporting eco system fro all stakeholders.
