Nondescripts Roar from the deep: Will the Fairytale continue?
Just a year ago, Nondescripts were nursing their wounds after relegation from the Kenya Cup having finished last in the 2021-2022 season. They however seem to have drawn valuable lessons from the experience and now, they’re back with a vengeance, roaring into the semifinals in a story straight out of a rugby fairytale!
This weekend, the 17-time champions (that’s right, 17!) face a daunting task: taking down the mighty Kabras Sugar, the reigning Kenya Cup kings, in their own backyard of Kakamega.
The “Red Lions,” journey has been nothing short of remarkable. This will Nondescripts‘ first dance in the semis in over a decade. After conquering the KRU Championship, the Callum Oliver led side stormed back into the Kenya Cup, leaving opponents and critics marveled by their exploits. This past weekend, they edged out Kenya Harlequins in a nail-biting playoff, booking their ticket to Kakamega for a clash with the defending champions – the mighty Kabras Sugar!
But Kabras Sugar are a force to be reckoned with. They’ve dominated the league in recent years, and won’t relinquish their dominance easily. The Carlos Katywa led side are an established powerhouse, boasting three Kenya Cup titles in recent years.
Can Nondescripts pull off another giant-killing feat? Buckle up, good people,
Here’s the lowdown:
Underdogs on the Rise: Nondescripts are hungry to prove their return to the big leagues is no fluke.
Experience vs. Momentum: Kabras Sugar bring championship pedigree, while Nondescripts ride a wave of momentum.
David vs. Goliath: Can the “Red Lions” topple the Sugar Mill giants?
This is a match you don’t want to miss! Will resurgent Nondescripts pull off another upset and continue the fairy tale? Or will Kabras Sugar maintain their sweet reign?
The battle for Kenya Cup glory continues from 4PM this weekend on the 23rd March at the ASK Kakamega Showgrounds – who will emerge victorious? This Kenya Cup semifinal promises fireworks! Don’t miss it!.
